Luwak Coffee

A common tourist trap on the island of Bali is to visit coffee plantations where “kopi luwak” is produced. Sometimes referred to as civet coffee this type of coffee is made from beans defecated by the Asian palm civet after they have eaten the coffee cherries. The claimed benefits of this kind of coffee production are quite dubious to begin with; “modern” methods which relying on caged animals are even more horrendous. Nevertheless here are some raw beans collected at one plantation currently being dried after washing.
